Who Makes It Happen

George Lake

After working for twenty years for The Woodlands Corporation, the real estate development subsidiary of Mitchell Energy & Development Corp., George created his own investment company in 1999, which has successfully engaged in the development, acquisition and operation of real estate assets.  To date, these developments include retail & medical offices, as well as real estate related operating businesses. In addition, he has periodically provided investment banking, strategic planning, and financing services for selected public and private companies.

In addition to his investment company, George successfully helped create, finance and grow several 501(c)3 operating entities, including The John Cooper School, a 900 student, non-sectarian college prep school (which he was also a founding board member); the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion, a 16,000 seat outdoor performing arts and contemporary entertainment venue; and The Woodlands Hospital, which initially had only 96 beds and currently has over 300.

George currently serves on the boards of The Woodlands Diving Academy, a 501(c)3, and Tandy Brands Accessories, a publicly held corporation.
